How long should i keep my phone in rice?

i have the LG Cosmo Touch and yesterday i dropped in in water. it didnt go completely in, but now its not working right. i can turn it on and text for a few seconds but then it turns back off. its been in rice all night how long should i keep it in there before i go to verizon?
