Should I get a tablet or a new phone?

Okay so I have an alright phone right now it's the LG Cosmo touch, but I'm kinda tired of it. At the same time I want tablet. Which would you get. Phone wise I was thinking of either an IPhone or Droid Charge. Tablet wise I was thinking IPad or Asus transformer. I already have a laptop computer and it's pretty portable (HP DV6TSE 15.6") but the 2 hour unplugged battery life kills me, and I like the ability to get new apps whenever I get bored.
