My Hamster is dead and I don't know why?

Last night, I was playing with my hamster for about an hour, like I do every night. Today I find him stuck in his hut because he put all of his bedding in his hole and got stuck; I guess. I have had him for over 3 months and he had food and water. I don't know if he suffocated or had a heart attack. But please help!
