Do restaurants hire teenagers that apply through the internet?

I was wondering if applying to stores like mcdonalds and white castle through the internet was really worth it, because i came across pizza hut's policy for applicants under 18 have to apply in person, iwas wondering if that goes for all restaurants? is it better to apply in person or does it matter at all how i apply?
